Privacy Policy

Last updated: 8 October 2026

This policy explains what information PineBacktest ("we", "the site") handles when you use it, and the choices you have.

1. What the tester processes

To produce a result, the site receives the strategy code or rules you enter, your settings (capital, commission and so on), and the dataset and timeframe you choose. This is used only to run your backtest and return the result. By default the application does not keep your strategy code or results after the request finishes (temporary files are deleted). Datasets are files held on the server; the site does not upload your computer's files.

If you use the "Which market data comes next?" form on the home page, we store the options you tick and the optional comment you type, together with the time. We do not ask for or store your name, e-mail address or IP address with it (your IP address is held in the server's memory for a few minutes only, to limit spam). Please do not write personal details in the comment. Votes and comments are kept to help us decide what data to add, and you can ask us to remove a comment by writing to the contact address below.

2. Server logs

Like most web servers, ours may record technical request information such as IP address, time, requested URL, response status and browser type, for security and troubleshooting. Request bodies (your strategy code) are not written to these logs by the application.

3. Cookies and local storage

Essential: your browser's local storage keeps your light/dark theme and your cookie choices. These stay on your device and are not sent to advertisers.

4. Analytics (Google Analytics 4)

Only if you accept analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used: which pages and sections are viewed and which features are used (for example "a backtest was run" with non-identifying details such as the timeframe, input mode and whether the result succeeded). We never send your strategy code, your data or your results to Google Analytics. Google may set cookies and process the technical data described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or by using "Cookie settings" below.

6. Your choices

You can change or withdraw your cookie choices at any time with Cookie settings, and you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Declining optional cookies does not limit any feature of the tester.

7. Retention and security

Information in server logs is kept only as long as needed for security and troubleshooting. Python strategies are run in an isolated process with time and memory limits. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so please do not paste secrets into strategy code.

8. Children

The site is not directed to anyone under 18 and is not intended for children.

9. Changes

We may update this policy; the date at the top shows the latest version.
