PineBacktest is a free backtesting tool. You paste a TradingView (Pine Script) strategy, write Python, or build rules by point-and-click, choose a dataset and timeframe, and it shows every trade together with the equity curve, drawdown and performance statistics.
How it works
- You provide 1-minute candles; higher timeframes (5m, 15m, 1h, daily ...) are built by aggregating them.
- Pine Script is translated to Python by the tester. Scripts that keep state between bars run in a bar-by-bar mode; anything unsupported is reported by line number and never guessed.
- Orders follow documented rules: fills on the next bar's open (or the signal bar's close if you choose), stop and limit exits checked inside each bar with gap handling, slippage and commission as configured, and one position at a time.
- Every result lists exactly how it was calculated, and strategies are checked so they cannot use future data.
What we do and don't promise
The tester uses exactly the candles in the file you select: rows with missing prices are dropped and duplicate timestamps keep the last one, but prices are never invented, smoothed or gap-filled. We follow TradingView's documented defaults, yet small differences from TradingView are possible (for example exchange-session boundaries, or which of a stop and a target is hit first inside one bar). Results are only as reliable as the data and the strategy logic you provide. Demo files are randomly generated and are not real market data.
Not financial advice
A backtest is a simulation on past data. It cannot predict future results and ignores liquidity, latency and changing market conditions. Nothing on this site is investment advice.
